The Future I Hope

I know the future I want. Learning from the philosophy of street-car that always stops on the way. It is one of the kind of things which cause the passengers are easily angry with the driver. The passengers need to move on fast, but the driver is still looking for some new passengers. So, the people in are being angry with him. It is annoyance to stay. Better to move on!

It is related to this life, people who want move on from all of the bad things, change it to a better one, and build a new life, new perception, and positive thinking orientation. Why don’t they move as fast as a street car? Why don’t they realize it? Before coming to ideas, it needs to detect what things really matter in life? Statistic says our country is progressing. Yet, what is about our people? Are we happier than before?

Actually, I do not know exactly how to have a better country. Yet we need to inspire “Better life must be started from everyone’s changing” in our heart and our soul. We need to avoid selfishness and isolation, be cautious and wiser, overcome our doubts and look deep inside ourselves for the answers to our fundamental questions. As a result, something has found really matter. It is ‘corruption mental’.    

This case is never easy to eradicate. However, it is going to be solved when people are working together to make it comes true. Good and clean government is in a citizen’s hands. These are several ways to solve it, as follows:

Firstly, for young generation, focus on character building. Starting from kindergarten student, mindset of children must be shaped to be a wise person. A wise person knows what to do and what to ignore. Never tolerate cheating and plagiarism. No matter what subject or what an emergency situation it is. As today is a cheater, tomorrow is corruptor. Thus, it must be warned since as a child, that claiming other people’s work as his own is wrong. People way of thinking cannot be changed easily, not even by force of law. So it is going to be an effective way of character building. As known, it is an intellectual laziness. It must be completely abolished from Indonesia’s culture.

Brand building of anti-plagiarism has to start from schools. Every student should utter anti-plagiarism slogans at least once a day. That gets recorded in their brain. When they see a cheater, their mind shows the person as a bad person. With this discriminatory power, their mind will not allow them to become a bad person when they grow. As a result, the future looks like being a country when people follow their heart doing something and where money is not the ruler.

Secondly, for mature people, never tolerate bribery. No matter how small it is. At this point of view, the rule of law really changes the situation. Actually, it is not easy to create such an ideal country instantly. Once more I say, statistic says this country is progressing, but what is about people? It is related to system, democracy. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people. This means that when somebody knows someone is doing something wrong, he/she must participate to change it. Everybody in this country has the same obligation, because civil society is not only the goal of government but also all of the citizens.

Thirdly, optimization of persuading people about bad effect of corruption. It is about everyday’s program on mass media. For instance, on television, there would be a scene depicting a happy family having breakfast on their apartment balcony, an officer arrives and arrests the man in front of his wife and children. He goes to jail. The scene ends with the words: corruption destroys families. So, mother and children feel very sad about it.

Thus, when someone who is watching that program has a plan to corrupt in his office or company, he directly changes that plan. It is going to harm his family. He thinks and decides to not do it. It effectively warns everybody. It is also truly effective to encourage people who are overcoming corruption.

The future is nowhere, yet in citizen’s hand. Let’s start care doing small thing but has a great effect on this country. I know, it is never easy to achieve peaceful country like our expectation. But we need to be optimistic.

When I was a child, I ever read a very inspirative story. Two men are walking at night. They are going home. One is looking down only a very dark and dirty road. While another is looking up only beautiful stars. How can we achieve a better future? Only we can believe, hope, look forward. We need to strive together to have a better life. Not government only, but also all of people in this country. It is about everyone’s effort! As a young generation, we are ready to do something for this country trough what we love. We are all one, and everything is in our hands.
